Yes I think they're necessary because it's a combined work of different licenses, it's a compromise. Without them I don't think we could mix these images into a single gif. There may be a compatibility issue, but adding that stuff wouldn't change anything. You can't compromise what's legally require. Uploading it here, you can't say it's only for ____ use; it's for everyone's use. Watermarking doesn't apply just to author's names, it's anything visible that belongs in the metadata and on the description page instead. Rocket000 16:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
