Description
Українська: Лід в поляризованому світлі. Кристали льоду мають здатність до подвійного заломлення світла, і тому їх можна спостерігати в поляризованному світлі. При замерзанні в кристалах утворюються різні девормації і напруження, які можуть повертати площину поляризації світла лише для деяких довжин хвиль, тому на фото лід різнокольоровий.
English: Ice in polarized light. Ice crystals have the ability to double refract light, and therefore they can be observed in polarized light. When freezing, different deformations and stresses are formed in the crystals, which can return the plane of polarization of light only for certain wavelengths, so in the photo the ice is multicolored.
