Праворуч унизу штамп: РМ. На звороті внизу поверх стертого напису зазначено олівцем: 18 29/ХІ 49. Праворуч ледве помітний напис олівцем: Оренбургъ. Т.Шевченко. Можливо, на малюнку зображений бакса (знахар), з яким зустрічались учасники експедиції на Косаралі. Про нього згадує О.І. Бутаков у листі до своїх рідних. Малюнок спочатку належав В.М.Лазаревському, згодом став власністю його сина і внука. У 1900 р. його придбав відомий московський колекціонер С.С.Боткін від якого він перейшов до Російського музею. З 1940р. – в Україні. Напис (18 листопада 1849 р., Оренбург) може вказувати не тільки на дату, коли Шевченко подарував малюнок В.М.Лазаревському, а й на можливість його завершення після Аральської експедиції. Олівець.
