English: The image shows the evolution of numeral shapes over time in ancient India. Please note that the subcontinent is large and the scripts for numerals vary regionally. The figures above are based on most well studied stone inscriptions dated to approximately as shown in the picture.
This is an annotated photograph of a 2D-Art published in 1911 from a personal copy of the book. The year of publication can be verified here on page 25 by David Smith (died 1944). The image falls under PD-Art-100-70 guidelines. Any rights I have, I herewith donate it to wikimedia commons with Creative Commons 4.0 license. |
