Description
English: Steve Lindsey (left), chief of NASA's astronaut office, and interpreter Paul Kharmats wait at the Arkalyk airport in Kazakhstan as Russian helicopters are refueled. Arkalyk was used as one of the helicopter staging areas for the landing of the Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, Expedition 16 commander; Russian Federal Space Agency cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, flight engineer and Soyuz commander; and South Korean spaceflight participant So-yeon Yi. The Soyuz TMA-11 capsule landed April 19, 2008 in central Kazakhstan.
