Description
Nederlands: Austerlitz is een dorp in de gemeente Zeist, provincie Utrecht. Het is ontstaan in een militair kamp van de Fransen, dat er was tijdens en na de slag bij Austerlitz (nu Slavkov u Brna, Tsjechië), waar Napoleon de Oostenrijkers en Russen in 1805 versloeg. In de winter van 1805/'06 liet de Franse bevelhebber de Piramide van Austerlitz net buiten het dorp (en voorbij de dorpsgrens) oprichten.

Op zondagochtend 2 december 1972 om 9.00 uur hees de burgemeester van Zeist, bijgestaan door lokale prominenten, de dorpsvlag van Austerlitz, nadat de nationale en gemeentelijke vlag was gehesen. De vlag is ontworpen door de Stichting Heraldiek en Banistiek in overleg met de Austerlitz burgers. De vlag bevat het meest opvallende dorpskenmerk: de pomp! (De 'piramide' ligt buiten de dorpsgrens). Omschrijving: drie horizontale streep van groen en wit; in de takel een gedraaide witte takel-driehoek en een witte driehoek; het midden van de witte streep heeft een schijf van 1/10 vlaggedrukt; aan de basis van de takeldriehoek zijn smalle groene strepen toegevoegd op zo'n manier dat de letter "A" kan worden onderscheiden.

Vanaf de vlieg gezien is het silhouet van de dorpspomp duidelijk zichtbaar!
