| Blazon | de gueules à la salamandre d'argent couronnée d'or sur un brasier du même, au chef cousu d'azur chargé de trois fleurs de lys d'or, au franc-canton cousu de sable chargé d'un lion d'or armé et lampassé de gueules. La salamanndre est l'emblème de François Ier qui fonda la ville. Le chef au fleurs de lys fut ajouté au XVIIe siècle, et le franc quartier au lion rend hommage au roi Albert Ier de Belgique qui séjourna dans la ville pendant la première guerre mondiale. La devise accompagant ce blason est "Nutrisco et Extinguo" soit "Je nourris et j'éteins" |
