Object history
English: Coat of arms of the Danish town Nibe. Granted 1727 when the town received town rights. Herring fisheries was an important economic activity in the town. To distinguish the arms from those of other Danish towns using fish in their arms the middle herring faces the sinister.
Dansk: Nibes byvåben. Tildelt 1727 i forbindelse med byen opnåede købstadsprivilegier. Sildefiskeri var en vigtig indtægtskilde for byen. For at undgå forveksling med andre danske byer med fiske-våbener, vender den midterste sild bagud.
