Deutsch: Das Wappen ist abgeleitet von alten Gerichtsiegeln. Das Andreaskreuz symbolisiert das Apostelpatronzinium St. Andreas, welches erstmals um 1100 erwähnt wurde. Das Mainzer Rad symbolisiert die frühere Zugehörigkeit zu Kurmainz.
English: The arms are derived from old seals. The saltire symbolises the patroncinium of St. Andrew, known since 1100. The wheel of Mainz symbolises the former belonging to the Electorate of Mainz.
