Deutsch: Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Stommeln seit 1975 Stadtteil von Pulheim: „In Silber (Weiß) ein grüner bewurzelter schwebender Baumstumpf, daraus oben rechts und links wachsend je ein fünfblättriger grüner Eichenzweig; der Baumstumpf belegt mit einem goldenen (gelben) Schild, darin ein rot bewehrter steigender schwarzer Löwe.“
Das Wappen wurde am 10. Januar 1938 durch das Preußische Staatsministerium verliehen. Es entstand nach einer Anfrage des Gemeinderats 1937 an das Preußische Staatsministerium. Es handelt sich um ein redendes Wappen (Stommeln ist abgeleitet von "Stumpf".) Der Löwe symbolisiert die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Jülich seit 1794. English: „Argent, a rooted tree stump vert with two five-leaved oak branches vert; charged with an escutcheon Or, therein an armed and langued gules lion rampant sable.“ The arms were granted on January 10, 1938. They were devised in 1937 on request from the local council. The arms are canting for the old medieval name of the village, Stumbelo. Stumb means a tree trunk, whereas Lo means a forested area. As the most likely tree in the area at the time an oak tree was chosen. The small shield shows the lion of the Duchy of Jülich, as Stommeln belonged to it until 1794. |
