Español: Los hombres más ancianos del pueblo bailaban con sus bastones como una ofrenda al Dios Sol o Dios Viejo, que en la región de Michoacán se llama Tata Jurhiata. Justo del sol que quemaba sus caras, los viejitos recibían el vigor requerido para seguir con sus actividades terrenales.
Eran cuatro los danzantes. Cuatro, como los rumbos del universo, los lados de una casa y las extremidades del ser humano. Cuatro como los elementos de la tierra y los colores del maíz: rojo, azul, blanco y amarillo. Cuatro como las estaciones que celebran los purépecha. La danza se acompaña con música tradicional purépecha; principalmente pirekuas como El Huarache, El Gustito, La Competencia, El Saludo del Amigo y El Trenecito. |
