Notes Beschreibung aus Karl Woermanns Galeriekatalog 1887: Der Tod der Virginia. Grau in grau. Rechts auf hohem Throne zwischen dorisch-toscanischen Säulen sitzt Appius Claudius (sein Name „APPIVS CLAVDIVS“ steht über ihm an der Wand). Wächter und Zuschauer umringen ihn. Vorn wird Virginia in grossem Volkshaufen von links hereingebracht. Ihr Vater stösst ihr das Schwert in die Brust. (Ihr Name „VIRGINIA“ steht unter ihr auf dem Fussboden.)
