Description
English: K. N. Panikkar (born 1936) is an Indian historian, associated with the "Marxist school" of historiography Panikkar was Professor of Modern Indian History at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Prior to joining JNU, he taught at University of Delhi. In 2001, he was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kerala. He also serves as the Chairman of the Kerala Council for Historical Research and Vice-Chairman of the Kerala State Higher Education Council. He is currently the General President of the Indian History Congress.
മലയാളം: ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഒരു ഒരു പ്രമുഖ ചരിത്രകാരനാണ്‌ ഡോ. കെ.എന്‍. പണിക്കര്‍. ഡല്‍ഹി സര്‍ വകലാശാലയില്‍ ചരിത്ര വിഭാഗം അദ്ധ്യാപകനായി. വകുപ്പുമേധാവിയായും സ്കൂള്‍ ഓഫ് സോഷ്യല്‍ സയന്‍സിന്റെ ഡീനായും ആര്‍ക്കൈവ്സ് ഓഫ് കണ്‍റ്റമ്പററി ഹിസ്റ്ററിയുടെ ചെയര്‍മാനായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു.പലവിദേശ സര്‍ വകലാശാലകളിലും വിസിറ്റിങ്ങ് പ്രൊഫസറായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടൂണ്ട്. വിവിധ അക്കാദമിക് സമിതികളില്‍ ഉപദേശകനായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലെ കാലടിയിലുള്ള ശ്രീ ശങ്കരാചാര്യ സംസ്കൃത സര്‍‌വ്വകലാശാലയുടെ മുന്‍ വൈസ് ചാന്‍സലറായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ കേരള ഹയര്‍ എഡ്യൂക്കേഷന്‍ കൗണ്‍സിലിന്റെ ചെയര്‍മാനായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു. അധിനിവേശകാലഘട്ടത്തിലെ സാംസ്കാരിക ഭൗതികചരിത്രമാണ് പ്രധാനമായി ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഗവേഷണമേഖല. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഭാഷയിലാണ് കെ.എന്‍.പണിക്കരുടെ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളും പ്രബന്ധങ്ങളും രചിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളത്.
