The King Rama VI Royal Cypher Medal was granted for first time in 30 December 1910. According to a Siamese royal court news, printed in the Royal Gazette Vol.27, 31 January 1911, This medal has 5 classes:

  • First Class: King Vajiravudh's royal monogram "ว.ป.ร." and the border of the medal decorated with diamonds
  • Second Class: King Vajiravudh's painted royal monogram "ว.ป.ร." with the border of the medal decorated with diamonds
  • Third Class: King Vajiravudh's black painted royal monogram "ว.ป.ร." with the border of the medal painted in red, as appeared in File:Royal Cypher Medal of King Rama V & Rama VI.jpg
  • Fourth Class: King Vajiravudh's golden royal monogram "ว.ป.ร." with the border of the medal painted in red
  • Fifth Class: King Vajiravudh's golden royal monogram "ว.ป.ร." with the silver border

เหรียญรัตนาภรณ์ รัชกาลที่ 6 มีลักษณะเป็นรูปไข่ มีอักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. อยู่ในพวงมาลาและมีหูสำหรับร้อยแพรแถบ โดยแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ชั้น ได้แก่

  • ชั้นที่ 1 ย่อว่า ว.ป.ร.๑ มีลักษณะเป็น อักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. เรือนเงินประดับเพชรล้วน
  • ชั้นที่ 2 ย่อว่า ว.ป.ร.๒ มีลักษณะเป็น อักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. ลงยาราชาวดีสีดำ ขอบพวงมาลาประดับเพชร
  • ชั้นที่ 3 ย่อว่า ว.ป.ร.๓ มีลักษณะเป็น อักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. ลงยาราชาวดีสีดำ ขอบลงยาราชาวดีสีแดง
  • ชั้นที่ 4 ย่อว่า ว.ป.ร.๔ มีลักษณะเป็น อักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. ทองคำ ขอบลงยาราชาวดีสีแดง
  • ชั้นที่ 5 ย่อว่า ว.ป.ร.๕ มีลักษณะเป็น อักษรพระบรมนามาภิไธย ว.ป.ร. ทอง ขอบสร่งเงิน
เหรียญดังกล่าวนี้ พระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ พระราชทานแก่พระบรมวงศานุวงศ์และข้าราชการเป็นครั้งแรก เมื่อวันที่ 30 ธันวาคม ร.ศ. 129 (พ.ศ. 2453) ปรากฏหลักฐานในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่ม 27 ตอน 0ง วันที่ 11 มกราคม พ.ศ.2453 หน้า 2409
