Summary

[edit]
Description

Triptilion spinosum Ruiz & Pav. 20081126.14 coastal Chile, south of Pichilemu

This beauty is in the Mutisieae tribe of the aster family. It is distinguished from other genera in that tribe by the cool white "plumose" scales borne in the pappus. It is probably closely related to Nassauvia, another characteristic genus of the cordilleran Andes.

(Common name is really "siempreviva".)
