English: The deformation of the cylindrical molybdenum nanocrystal along the crystallographic direction <110> results in a deformation twin.
A section of a plane along the axis of compression is shown. Each circle illustrates the position of a single atom Color indicates normal stress magnitude in accordance with the color chart provided in the upper part. At the initial stage of the compression elastic deformation occurs with increasing stress. After reaching the buckling stress several germs of deformation twins are formed, but continues to grow only one due to the reduction of stress in the crystal. For molecular dynamics simulation and images preparing it was used proprietary software.
English: The deformation of the cylindrical molybdenum nanocrystal results in a deformation twin. |
