Description
English: The Parker spiral structure of the average interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), shown in the solar equatorial plane for two solar wind speeds, 400 km/s and 2000 km/s. The actual direction of the IMF at any point may be inward or outward, but in either case, its field lines will on average be spirals as shown. Variations may be large, including significant components out of the plane of the figure.
