Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC or PIC line) extracted from the left arm of a patient after use for two months. (The right arm where a PICC normally would be applied was not used because the veins there were too thin to allow proper insertion.) The plastic "statlock" shield is attached at the location of entry through the skin to fixate the tube. The PICC was used for daily fluconazole therapy by a registered nurse for home health care and was inserted in a peripheral vein in the left upper arm by anaesthetists of the St. Antonius Ziekenhuis Utrecht, The Netherlands (hospital) in 2018. The total length of this PICC line was 53 cm, the diameter was approximately 1,0 mm and the height of the slim patient 1,72 m.
