Español: Tumba de San Pedro vista desde las Grutas Vaticanas, Basílica de San Pedro, Ciudad del Vaticano Français : Confession de saint Pierre dans la Basilique Saint-Pierre : chapelle couverte de marbres, entourée d'une balustrade en hémicycle (chargée de cent lampes votives en bronze doré soutenues par des cornes d'abondance et allumées en permanence) et à laquelle on accède par deux rampes d'escaliers. L'accès en est fermé par une grille représentée par une croix inversée. Elle contient la « Niche des Palliums » excentrée (correspondant à la partie antérieure du « trophée de Gaïus ») avec un coffret de bronze - don de Benoît XIV - conservant les pallia que le pape remet en guise de reliques de contact aux archevêques et métropolites en signe de communion particulière avec lui, et une mosaïque du IXe siècle représentant un Christ bénissant, entourée des statues en bronze de saint Paul et saint Pierre. |
