Italiano: Pieve di San Giovanni in Compito. La prima notizia storica sulla pieve di San Giovanni in Compito, situata nella città romana di Compito a poca distanza dall'attuale Savignano sul Rubicone, si riscontra in un papiro ravennate del 633 che documenta la presenza di un edificio religioso in ambito rurale. É probabile però che la chiesa di San Giovanni esistesse già intorno al 600, epoca nella quale la città di Compito, che sorgeva ad un quadrivio della via Emilia, fu distrutta dai longobardi. Se ne perdono poi le tracce fino al X secolo, quando ricompare nel codice Bavaro in cui si attesta la sua esistenza proprio con il titolo di “pieve”. Ma nel 1359 l'intervento di strutturazione urbana del borgo di Savignano segna il tramonto della pieve, che viene sempre più declassata a chiesa rurale e periferica. Questa decadenza si protrarrà finché, a partire dal XIX secolo, non saranno intrapresi importanti lavori di ammodernamento. Fu anche l'impegno di don Giorgio Franchini a valorizzare e rivitalizzare l'antico insediamento e la sua storia, attraverso l'apertura del museo archeologico nel 1930. Inoltre la chiesa attuale conserva numerosi resti di muratura risalente al VII secolo soprattutto nella parete meridionale, ma per il resto si mostra come un'opera pienamente romanica, ascrivibile al secolo XI. A questo proposito la facciata appare pienamente romanica e ben conservata soprattutto in seguito ai restauri della metà del Novecento che hanno riparato i danni della seconda guerra mondiale. É andata perduta, invece, l'abside originaria che, essendo pericolante, fu demolita e sostituita con una parete rettilinea. Proprio nel corso di questi restauri novecenteschi, durante il rifacimento del pavimento, si sono ritrovate anche le fondazioni dell’originaria abside semicircolare distrutta pochi anni prima del 1827. |
