Summary[edit]

Description Rekonstruktion der Uniform eines römischen Benficarius im deutschen Zollmuseum Hamburg. Der B. war oft ein als Zollwache eingesetzter römischer Soldat im Unteroffiziersrang. Er beaufsichitgte in den Provinzen die einheimischen Wachen und Zolleinnehmer. Neben der Erhebung von Wege- und Einfuhrzöllen übernahm er auch polizeiliche Funktion in seinem Abschnitt wahr. Zeichen seines Amtes ist die spezielle Lanze.
