Summary

[edit]
Description

English: Rendzina, extremely thin topsoil on the plain „Heufeld”, middleSwabian Alb. The plain Heufeld is completely cultivated by villagers of Ringingen (community of Burladingen). The plain, next to the northern cuesta, is the largest closed area of the so called “Schichtflächenalb”, the second lowest of 8 layers of the upper lithostratigraphic unit of the South German Jurassic, (ox2). Rendzina is a humous, fine soil, with only little decarbonization, tending to drought, which developed very slowly by a mere 10-20 cm in tenthousand years. Soil on woods tends to become Brown Earth.
