Description
English: Clew of three male Common Toads (Bufo bufo) and one big Edible Frog (Pelophylax kl. esculentus). The frog is in trouble – the toads are trying to “mate” with him obstinately. They are so much full of sexual hormones that they don’t see their error. Picture recorded in northern Germany
Deutsch: Knäuel aus drei Erdkröten-Männchen (Bufo bufo) und einem großen Teichfrosch (Pelophylax kl. esculentus). Der Frosch hat ziemliche Probleme, denn die im Hormonrausch befindlichen Kröten versuchen hartnäckig, sich mit ihm zu verpaaren – in dem Irrglauben, ein Weibchen der eigenen Art vor sich zu haben (vgl. Amplexus).
Nederlands: In de voortplantingstijd wil de paardrift nogal eens tot vergissingen leiden: Een kluwen bestaande uit drie mannetjes van de gewone pad en een bastaardkikker.
