Summary[edit]

Description

Tricholoma colossus (Fr.) Quél.

Image location: Franklin Parker Preserve, Speedwell, New Jersey, USA

Two equally-sized immature fruiting bodies growing next to each other (caps almost touching) on the side of a sandy road, next to obs 255502. Mixed pine-hardwood forest (pitch pine, young red maple and other hardwoods). The thick, dense flesh apparently stained pale pinkish-red instantly on the fringes of the cap and then very slowly in the stem. The cap with a strongly inrolled margin was 6 cm wide. Only one specimen was collected.
