Description |
Nederlands: Aquarel. Oorspronkelijk behoorden deze aquarellen tot een grote kaart van de rivier de Suriname, in 1877 gemaakt door G.P.H. Zimmerman (hij heeft de metingen verricht en tekeningen gemaakt in 1865). De rivier was daarbij omgeven door 21 kleine aquarelletjes die voorstellingen toonden van mensen, huizen, landschappen etc. in Suriname.
G.P.H. Zimmerman was luitenant bij de Infanterie en verbleef rond 1860 in Suriname. Hij bracht de Suriname rivier in kaart en vervaardigde een aantal aquarellen van militaire posten, plantages, stads- en riviergezichten. Deze auqarellen zijn verwijderd en in groepen in passepartouts gedaan: L,O,H,P,N als dorpsgezichten, evenals M,F,T,D,E,J,C,I,K; en S,A,B,G,Q,Z,V met bevolkingstypen. De kaart zelf kreeg het nummer 1138-17-a-1, en werd in 1877 voor rekening van het Aardrijkskundig Genootschap gedrukt. Op de kaart staat bovenaan vermeld: "Tijdschrift Aardrijkskundig Genootschap Deel II". De kaart is uitgevoerd op schaal 1:150.000 - Noordoostkust Zuid-Amerika, schaal 1:750.000 - Monding Suriname-rivier, schaal 1:100.000 - Plattegrond Paramaribo - Twee doorsneden van bodemprofielen - opgave van enkele voortbrengselen van de oevers der Suriname Het oorspronkelijke geheel werd een paar malen op tentoonstellingen bekroond..
