English: President Rodrigo Roa Duterte inspects the completed airport and seaport development projects in General Santos City on November 22, 2021.
The completed projects at the GSC Airport feature the expansion and rehabilitation of an existing Passenger Terminal Building (PTB), installation of navigational aids and construction of an Administration Building. According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the expanded PTB can now accommodate around two (2) million passengers per year, compared to the previous capacity of 800,000 passengers annually. These development projects spearheaded by the DOTr and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) are envisioned to serve as key drivers for economic, tourism and commerce growth while opening a wide array of income-generating opportunities for the City and the entire Region 12. On 23 September 2021, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco graced the formal unveiling and inauguration of the projects in the said airport. |
