Source Modified version of Figure 5 in Steam Engines entry in the 9th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica
Author J.A.Ewing, Dr. Mirko Junge

Original figure in Robert H. Thurston, A History of the Growth of the Steam-Engine, 1827 with no reference as to its source. This work is in the public domain due to its age. My modifications to the image are to the condenser, so the figure is more in line with the real apparatus and especially with the original Watt condenser.
