PD status

I see that User:Kirk had some doubts about the PD status of this, but finally satisfied himself.

Certainly the NYPL has no legitimate copyright claim on the image; their ©2009 is pro forma, and they put a "current" copyright on all of their pages. Presumably it applies to the rest of the page content, but not to the old photos.

This photo dates from 1900 in the U.S. It appears to be a publicity photo, so was almost certainly published at the time. I don't have proof of that (nor of who took the photo), but it seems a reasonable presumption. - Jmabel | Talk 17:38, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
