Actually, I've never heard of a "decare." However, at least in Germany sometimes the unit "Morgen" (= morning) is still used. Originally it probably meant the same thing as the English acre, the area ploughed by a yoke of oxen in one day. Today a "Morgen" is officially defined as .5 hectare. (Personally I believe that's because all the metric measures were chosen too large by factor 2 for day to day purposes, e.g. pound vs. kilogram or pint vs. liter, probably because Napoleon was a short man and used his system as compensation.)

In any case, maybe the dubious "decare" should be removed from the otherwise excellent diagram in favor of the "Morgen." --85.181.133.210
