Bad caption[edit]
The female figure in the center is not Margaret Freeman, wife of Arthur Evans, as she had died some years before. Besides, Margaret had been petite, which the figure shown here is not. The man to the right does look like Duncan, with the English hat. The other two, well, who knows who they were. I would hesitate to say workmen because first of all the man is not dressed as a digger and female diggers weren't the rule. They might be supervisors of diggere, who knows?
