Very nice chart. Some ideas for improvement:

- Switch Blue to the Left and Red to the Right.
- Next to each state, indicate its weighting (number of electoral votes).
- Might be easier on the eyes with softer shades of blue/red (the baby blue/salmon in the table to the left would probably be too soft).--ChrisnHouston (talk) 02:46, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the left/right switch (Dem. = liberal = left, Rep. = conservative = right). Also, while I have no big problem with the dark red/blue backgrounds I would suggest lightening the red and blue arrows so they can be seen more clearly on both sides of the chart; also, some lighter color than black (grey? purple?) for the 2004 results, for the same reason. I tried making some of these changes myself, but the edges are anti-aliased, so just painting over the older colors with new ones didn't give good results. Either the original poster will have to redo it, or someone else will have to create it again from scratch. - dcljr (talk) 06:31, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments - I thought the chart would convey the information in an interesting new way. I will amend the chart in line with what you have said (may take a day or two before I have time!).). I was thinking of making the height of each line proportionate to electoral votes, but on reflection that might be too much (plus would be misleading for Nebraska) --Anguswalker (talk) 09:55, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent job, Angus.--ChrisnHouston (talk) 04:34, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you for redoing the graphic. An original idea well executed. - dcljr (talk) 03:52, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
