I am not sure it is possible to release this under Creative Commons. The design is in the public domain, and this appears to be an unoriginal reproduction of the design. The reproduction would violate copyright if the original was protected, and it is only possible to release this file freely because the original is unprotected. In my understanding, this file must therefore also be considered in the public domain unless it contains original additions (i.e. extra artwork on top of the original design). --Dbachmann (talk) 12:14, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unlike the French tricolor or other designs which are very simply abstractly geometric, this design allows (in fact forces) the SVG image author to make many specific implementation decisions. Also, the vector instructions in an SVG file are copyrightable as computer-language source code... AnonMoos (talk) 16:10, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
