Commons status with old paintings really safe?
The point is, museums always need money urgently. So in order to get money, they use their copyrights they have on all their exhibits: They sell books, postcards &ct. ... As I heard, they watch their copyrights quite jealously. So, how safe is that common status worldwide? I know, Germany is awfully strict, and that is actually the reason why German Wikipedia users are very careful -- much more than users in the U.S. at least (I have to admit, I'm quite a sissy in things copyright as well, as German-American individual). I think, it would be risky indeed, to publish this photo in Germany, if it was taken in a German museum. Another question is, could a German museum succeed, if they sued an American who published this photo on his/her blog?--Demoiselle Clarisse (talk) 11:04, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
