Author[edit]

If John Fleming is in the photograph, it seems unlikely that he was also the author (unless he used a tripod to take it). Can the uploader clarify who the author was? — Cheers, JackLee talk 19:35, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's a worthy comment. The upload info states "with unknown actor". 'John Fleming' seems to be left ambiguous in context. Since you noted it before, I spent time digging on en wp, mostly because I thought it would be nice to categorize the image under that actor in the photo as well as Nickson.
My research assumption is that the other person in the photo is an actor who played a character in the work (I note my assumption could be flawed, but it seems consistent with the story told in the work; that we will have people costumed as sea-going captains in the work just seems plausible to me).
On en wp there isn't a plausible actor named w:John Fleming. The 1989 work is documented on en wp (and IMDb of course), w:Around the World in 80 Days (TV miniseries). I tried to match the face with the known actors from the work, and nothing came up that struck me as plausible.
What else didn't come up is that the there is no evidence that the image is a promotional shot: On IMDb the 1989 work is documented with pictures, including promotional images, and this image is not among them, which to me, further alleviates any possible licensing concern.
As to who the other person is in this image, I suspect it may have to remain unknown, unless someone has personal information that they're not yet forking over, or, someone goes out and buys the work from Amazon (apparently it is available on DVD), and can match the character to the actor using the primary source: the DVD credits. The only real thing I know from my research is: "That ain't w:Pierce Brosnan".
The evidence does tend to lend itself to this answer to the question "Who is this John Fleming guy?": "He's a dude who took a picture." —Aladdin Sane (talk) 21:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe someone still reads this ... is the man in the picture (maybe) en:Jack Klugman? I'm not sure ... but something remembers me of him. --Mirer (talk) 04:34, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
