Please do not take images from other websites and claim them as your own work. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and a failure to do the same will result in you being blocked from editing. If you have any questions regarding image uploads or any other aspect of Wikipedia, you are welcome to contact me on my talk page. J Milburn (talk) 21:23, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The images were deleted because I found the very same files on other websites, and so I was assuming that you were taking them from elsewhere and uploading them as your own work- something we see far too much on Wikipedia. If the image was taken by your father, could you please explain why it is used on [1]&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk&client=firefox-a this website] (direct link)? Sure! I have been a huge admirer of Ms. Mazahery and her work for quite some time, and so has my dad (mostly because of learning about her through me :). When he had gone on a trip to Washington a while back, he had contacted her office and had arranged a meeting. He took several photos during the meeting to bring back to me. As a gesture of thanks, I sent Ms. Mazahery a couple of those photos, which she seemed to really like. This was approximately around the same time that she was being asked for bio and photos by various organizations, and she asked me (I think she might have been being nice at the time, but none the less!) if it would be ok to use one of those photos as a profile photo. I was so excited that she wanted to use one of MY photos of her, and happily asked her to please do so. And whether as a gesture of niceness to my feelings or whether she really was serious, the photo ended up being used where you have mentioned, as well as in other places since then. And I have been enjoying the bragging rights ever since!!  :)))) --Autoplay91 (talk) 21:47, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense- congratulations! Annoyingly, a lot of people are eager to claim the ownership of photos by others that they have found around the 'net, and the Wikimedia Foundation generally takes a pretty "show me the evidence" stance with regards to Wikipedians claiming ownership of photos. Would it possible to upload some of the originals (perhaps ones not used elsewhere) rather than the thumbnails available elsewhere) so that it could be verified that you are the copyright holder? J Milburn (talk) 22:09, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, but they have my dad in them! Is that ok? I have no problem with providing you with the proof, which I am so proud of myself for! But I would rather do it in a way that doesn't let everyone on the internet see all those photos. Is that possible?--Autoplay91 (talk) 22:42, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's great- thanks for doing that. Perhaps you should upload this one- it doesn't have your father on, is a great shot of Mazahery, and it's obviously not taken from another website. It would be worth mentioning on the upload form that the images are used elsewhere, and briefly explaining why! Sorry for deleting the images to start with- the vast majority of images I come across like this have been stolen from elsewhere (due either to lack of respect for, or lack of understanding of, copyright restrictions). Thanks for sticking with this- feel free to contact me if I can be of any help, and welcome to Wikipedia! J Milburn (talk) 12:11, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
