Based on age and facial characteristics, I have to question whether this is really Gustav Adolf, Crown prince of Sweden (later King Gustav VI Adolf), or if it's his son Gustav Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten. The photo was taken in 1928. At that time Gustav (VI) Adolf was 46 years old and the Duke of Västerbotten was 22 years old. I think the man in the photo looks more like to be in his twenties than in his forties. Furthermore, I think that the general impression is that the man in the picture is the Duke of Västerbotten. Please compare the pictures below!

The Library of Congress says it's "Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweeden [sic]". Of course in 1928, when this was taken, the king was Gustav V, who was 70 years old at the time, so the description there must be incorrect. I agree that it looks more like the Duke than the Crown Prince. howcheng {chat} 17:50, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have now been in contact with the Library of Congress and recieved the following information. The caption on the back of the photo says: "12/4/28 Prince Gustavus Adolphus, of Sweden, from his latest photograph made at the Swedish Legation, Washington." Later has someone written VI beside his name, propably mixing the prince up with his father. According to some old newspapers, Gustav Adolf (1906-1947) Duke of Västerbotten was in New York on December 1, 1928 for a wedding. It seems likely that he visited Washington a few days later and took this photo. The entry in the catalog of the Library of Congress is now changed according to this. /B****n (talk) 23:55, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
