Info section

[edit]

Info section says: (Safiye Ali) "Treated war-wounded in the Turkish War of Independence, the Balkan Wars (of 1912/13), and in WWI." I doubt the "Treated war-wounded" parts of this info section are totally correct. Safiye Ali (b. 1894) was very young during the Balkan Wars and studied medicine in Germany during WWI (from 1916) and received her diploma in 1921. Opened her clinic in Istanbul in 1922. However, she has a series of Ottoman medals and that makes one think that she could have worked as a volunteer (nurse) some time in these wars or as a volunteer of the Turkish Red Crescent Society, which in most female cases ended with a "Şefkat" (Compassion) medal from the Sultan. OTOH, there is, among the first Turkish "female" nurses, another Safiye, Safiye Hüseyin (later Safiye Elbi) who worked during the mentioned wars and was awarded with a Florence Nightingale Medal. I hope nobody confused the two Safiyes (not in relation to the picture, there is no doubt on that) in the info. --E4024 (talk) 14:34, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
