Collection

[edit]

I've changed the collection for this image from "Uppsala Art Museum" to "Stockholm City Museum." The reason being that there are two copies of this painting. The one owned by Uppsala University (inventory number UU 52), is considered a "contemporary copy" or "studio replica" and was donated to the University by Adolf Ludvig Stierneld.[1]

Stockholm City Museum also owns a copy, which was purchased in 1948. This copy is signed and dated by Govert Dircksz Camphuysen and appears to be the original. As the source for this image on Wikimedia Commons is the Stockholm City Museum, and the image contains the artist’s signature, it is undoubtedly the painting owned by Stockholm City not the copy owned by Uppsala University.
