License[edit]

It's impossible to verify the license with the current link—do you have a link for the next level up, so as to confirm its authorship? czar 01:48, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mylkomeda? czar 03:14, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Sorry, but you're wrong. It is a Hubble Space Telescope image. The same photo is in the Hubble Legacy Archive: http://hla.stsci.edu/cgi-bin/display?config=ops&image=hst_10210_02_acs_wfc_f814w%2Chst_10210_02_acs_wfc_f606w&size=4869,4846&izoom=1.000000&detector=ACS%2FWFC&aperture=WFC&title=10210_02%20ACS%2FWFC%20F814W%2FF606W%20(color)%20UGC8833. Astro Photo contains images also from HST. I understand the distrust of administrators , but if you censore also Hubble's pictures will not be published anything in astronomy.--Mylkomeda (talk) 14:43, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mylkomeda, the page was tagged to confirm the license and I don't see any information at the source to confirm the license, which is why I asked for help (not sure what claim I made that is wrong...) If the images at sky-map.org are in the public domain, or if it is a Hubble Space Telescope image and all HST images are in the public domain, can you please link to the document that says this at the website? Right now, I cannot "confirm" that the image is under a NASA license unless the website says so. czar 15:21, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't what I have to do. This image is in the same conditions of many other photo uploaded in Wikimedia Commons from WikiSky. Why different is mine? For example: NGC 474 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - NGC 1533.jpg - NGC 3455 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - Apr220 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - NGC 4565 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - Messier 85 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - Messier 87 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - PGC 621 Hubble-WikiSky.jpg -NGC 4980 Hubble WikiSky.jpg - ....... The licence was tagged: "ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR PUBLICATIONS All refereed publications based on data obtained from the HLA are requested to carry the following footnote: Based on observations made with the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, and obtained from the Hubble Legacy Archive, which is a collaboration between the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI/NASA), the Space Telescope European Coordinating Facility (ST-ECF/ESA) and the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre (CADC/NRC/CSA). In addition, publications of research supported by an STScI grant must carry the following acknowledgment: Support for Program number ____________ was provided by NASA through a grant from the Space Telescope Science Institute, which is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Incorporated, under NASA contract NAS5-26555. It's a genuine Hubble's image. If you wish erase it... erase it." Yours sincerely--Mylkomeda (talk) 16:04, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Mylkomeda, I have no interest in erasing it. The only reason I even asked is because the file was in a review queue. I'm not familiar with the site. Does it have some page or marker that indicates that this is a Hubble image? I'll remove the license review tag and anyone who has issues with the set can take it up with you and whomever. Sorry for the trouble czar 17:45, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. http://hla.stsci.edu/hla_help.html#acknow - ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR PUBLICATIONS.--Mylkomeda (talk) 13:41, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
