Simplified SVG 2022-02-10[edit]

I just uploaded a newly simplified version of the SVG code, and I noticed that the image had previously been reverted to a much earlier version, so I wanted to explain my changes in more depth here in order to avoid them getting unnecessarily reversed.

Here is the full text of the SVG file I uploaded (with smaller indents in order to improve readability):

The things I changed are as follows:

  1. I removed a bunch of unused gradient definitions that were there for no discernible reason.
  2. I removed Inkscape-specific metadata that had nothing to do with the document's use on Wikimedia Commons.
  3. I reorganized and extended the RDF metadata to better match the metadata on the Wikimedia Commons description page.
  4. Because the image consisted of two identical "V" figures, I replaced them with a single "V" figure definition (with the transform origin at the figure's top left) instantiated twice. (The image could just as easily be flatted into a single "W" figure, but this approach makes the SVG code more human-readable.)
  5. Because the image was already black on a transparent background (the default for unstyled SVG figures) I removed all of the color information in the image in order to facilitate CSS styling (i.e. Dark Mode filters, etc.).

If you want to make further changes to this SVG document, please do so in a way that preserves the metadata and otherwise keeps the source code relatively human-readable. Thanks!
