Late date for Iranian Migrations?[edit]

@Joshua Jonathan I am far from an expert on this, and I haven't checked the sources, but the late date of 800BCE for Iranian migrations seems a little odd. By the early 7th century BCE we already have Medians and Persians in Western Iran prominently in the historical record, and the Wikipedia page on Medians claims that Iranian speakers were already in Northwestern Iran by 11th century BCE. Why the late date of 800BCE? TChapProctor (talk) 02:16, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm currently in the Middle of The Horse, the Wheel and Language so I'll try to check these dates as I come across them. TChapProctor (talk) 02:22, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TChapProctor: good point; thanks. See here. I think it comes from Beckwith, but you seem to be right. Regards, Joshua Jonathan (talk) 03:20, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
