English: Northern 2099 (ex-617, 52, 3083) (reg. PCN 762, ex EDS 508B, ex-RCN 699) was one of the Northern Routemasters (RMFs). It spent its entire working life with Northern at their Consett depot. It entered service in the company's allover red 'crimson lake' livery, relieved by a thin cream band, with 'Northern' fleetnames in gold and the painted advertising slogan of Shop at Binns applied. In 1969 it was one of 13 RMFs that were repainted into a two tone cream and raspberry red livery (cream on the window surrounds and roof, red on the skirt and in between the windows). This livery was used for just two years, 2099 latterly returning to the original livery of crimson lake. In January 1975, as part of a fleet wide renumbering, the RMFs became 3069-3118 and 3129 (the prototype), thus 2099 became 3083. By 1975, 2099 along with the rest of the Northern fleet had been repainted into the standard poppy red livery of the National Bus Company, with NBC style white fleetnames. Withdrawal of the RMFs began in 1977 and had been completed by the end of 1980, 2099 being withdrawn during 1980. 2099 was sold to breaker Wombwell diesels, but instead of being scrapped, it was bought by Staffordshire based public transport operator Stevensons of Uttoxeter in January 1981 for further service. They repainted it into their yellow livery and renumbered it as their fleet no. 52. While with Stevensons it received a non standard lower-deck rear end following an accident. In May 1986 it was sold to Stagecoach for operation in Perth, Scotland, but by October it had been transferred to Glasgow for Stagecoach's new Magic Bus operation, receiving the Stagecoach livery of white with orange, red & blue stripes with Magicbus fleetnames. While at Stagecoach it was re-engined with an AEC unit. At some point it was renumbered 617, and was re-registered EDS 508B. In December 1991 it was bought for preservation by the Go-Ahead Northern Bus Enthusiast Association (Go-Ahead being the privatised successor to NBC Northern). Renumbered 2099, in 1992 it was repainted into the Northern two tone cream and raspberry red livery it wore from 1969. It has since appeared at many rallies and events. At some point in the 1990s it was re-registered PCN 762.
