My name is Derren, and i'm a landscape photographer based in the beautiful Maltese Islands.

My love for photography began in 2009. I got my first Dslr camera, the Canon 500d with an 18-55 kit lens. In those days I was really into HDR photography, but I was lucky enough to have a sister into graphic design that showed me how to post process landscapes on Photoshop. In June 2011, I had the opportunity to go on a 3-week trip to Canada, Alaska and Arizona with my wife Stephania. That was my first experience with landscape photography outside Europe and I must admit that I was in seventh heaven taking photos of some of the most amazing landscapes in the world.

Photography helps me to slow down and connect with what is around me. The whole process is enlightening, therapeutic and fulfilling. My favourite categories are Food and Architecture, 360 Photo-spheres, Landscape and Long exposure photography.

My opinion of Artistic Photography

The most creative aspect of artistic photography is emotion. Images need to be more than just a graphical representation of an object or place. A well-crafted photograph needs to tell a story, stimulate the emotions, create intrigue or elicit some reaction.

My favourite Photograph

The one I'm going to take tomorrow. It is very likely that my best photograph has not yet been captured!
