Mond und Stern sind ein selbstredendes Wappenschild, in dem symbolhaft die Worte des Kirchenpatrons Johannes des Täufers: „Jener (Christus) muß wachsen, ich (Johannes) muß abnehmen“, wiedergegeben sind.
