Subhendu is a research scholar at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) in Bengaluru, India. He earned his Master's degree in Labour Studies and Social Protection from the renowned Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS), Guwahati (Assam), where he focused his research thesis on the issue of mountain-specific poverty in Meghalaya, a northeastern state of India. In addition to his research he is particularly passionate about ecological economics and conservation economics, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, and disaster risk reduction which he believes are essential for promoting sustainable development in mountain regions. In addition to his academic pursuits, Subhendu has a hobby - butterfly photography and studying butterfly behavior. His love for these delicate creatures has been an integral part of his life since 2012, and he has been studying butterfly behavior in various parts of India ever since. Subhendu's passion for butterflies is not just limited to his personal interests. He has been an active participant in various butterfly-related seminars, where he has shared his knowledge and expertise on the subject with other enthusiasts. Through his efforts, Subhendu has been able to raise awareness about the importance of butterfly conservation and the role they play in maintaining the delicate ecosystem of mountain regions.
