Deutsch: Der Kanton St. Gallen ist ein Kanton im Nordosten der Schweiz, südlich des Bodensees. Flächenmässig ist er nach Graubünden der grösste Kanton der Ostschweiz. Der Ostschweizer Kanton St. Gallen grenzt an die benachbarten Kantone Graubünden, Glarus, Schwyz, Zürich, Thurgau, im Norden an den Bodensee sowie im Osten an das österreichische Vorarlberg und das Fürstentum Liechtenstein. Durch den Bodensee grenzt St. Gallen indirekt auch an die deutschen Bundesländer Baden-Württemberg und Bayern. Ferner umschliesst er die Halbkantone Appenzell Innerrhoden und Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
English: The Canton of St. Gallen (German: Kanton St. Gallen) is a canton of Switzerland. St. Gallen is located in the north east of Switzerland. It covers an area of 2,026 km², and has a population of 465,937 (2007) of which 97,461 (or 20.9%) are foreigners. The capital is St. Gallen. Spelling variations include: St. Gall, Saint Gall, Saint Gallen, Sankt Gallen.
