Culinary herbs are plant leaves, stems and (rarely) flowers used for flavoring purposes.
Herbs are distinguished from spices, which are dried seed, fruit, root, bark or vegetative substance used in nutritionally insignificant quantities as a food additive for the purpose of flavoring.
