The order was supposed to come in 5 (five) classes:

• 1/1 Grand Cross - Design: stone of colour blue green.
• 1/2 Grand Officer - Design: stone of colour yellow ochre.
• 1/3 Commander - Design: stone of colour red.
• 1/4 Officer - Design: stone of colour white.
• 1/5 Knight - Design: stone of colour black.

While this award remained unissued and did not ever materialise, two (2) years after it was planned the Imperial Order of the Dragon of Annam (大南龍星院) was created. The design of the Order of the Imperial Reward of Dainam reflected the four (4) cardinal points around the Empire of Đại-Nam, and the central precious stones of the various traditional levels of quality represented Heaven. The ribbon colours were the imperial colour of yellow and the colour black representing water.
