English: Petra (Greek: "πέτρα" (petra); meaning rock) — an ancient city and archaeological site, located in the Ma'an Governorate of Jordan.

The city site is renowned for its Nabataean classical rock cut architecture and advanced water management system, and the Ancient Roman ruins.
Petra was established circa 4th century BCE, served as capital of the Nabataean Empire to 106 CE, when it began declining within Roman Arabia Petraea into the 4th century CE.
Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the most visited Jordanian attraction, and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
