Naming[edit]

Please see

As always at Commons, discussion went nowhere and it's all just a process of arguing the finer subtleties of the English language with the Germans, who then go and rename it anyway.

But this is a light vessel, not a ship, and its name is Light Vessel 23, not Bar. I've no objection to including Bar, but Light Vessel 23 ought to feature too and I don't like calling things "ships" when they aren't ships, they're unpowered vessels. Renamed, in line with other light vessels.--Stunteltje (talk) 07:06, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And to demonstrate just what I mean, there we have an immediate rename to one editor's personal opinion that things which are not ships must be called "ships" anyway, and a refusal to conduct any discussion with other editors. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:51, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Incidentally, this one does have a name, 'Planet', although I don't know when she was named, and such names are often only given when the vessel goes out of service.Andy Dingley (talk) 11:54, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • Sorry, but you didn't read the previous discussions, where was explained that the naming system is intended for fast and easy finding floating objects, any, for not experienced users. They see a name painted on the vessel and will try to find her with that name. --Stunteltje (talk) 13:18, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
